چکیده
High-alumina coal fly ash (HAFA: 45% Al2O3 and 40% SiO2) is regarded as a special solid waste that generated from power plants in northwestern China. It an important substitute for bauxite applied to prepare mullite-based ceramics. In this work, hydrometallurgy–pyrometallurgy synergistic process proposed resolve the lower Al2O3/SiO2 mass ratio (Al/Si) degree of crystallinity can promote formation compact During activation–desilication process, inert Al-O-Si activated form more active Si-O-H acid activation, which be decomposed easily desilication Al/Si increases 1.17 2.80, so mullite grains metastable phase exposed. sintering tended axial growth, part amorphous Q4(3,2,1Al) structure was transformed Q4(4Al) (mullite), then staggered spatial formed such bulk density apparent porosity ceramic reached 2.85 g/cm3 0.5%, respectively. This not only consumes HAFA but also helps alleviate shortage bauxite, will development clean coal-fired generation.

Mullite-alumina functionally gradient ceramics
Cracks free mullite-alumina Functionally Gradient Ceramics (FGC) have been obtained by sequential slip casting of Mullite-alumina slurries with diserent mullite/alumina ratios. These slurries were prepared with 65 % solids content and viscosities rangingpom 10 to 40 mPa.s. 7he presence of cracks perpendicular to the FGC layers have been attributed to residual stresses developed because of the m...
متن کاملRecycling of Coal Fly Ash for the Fabrication of Porous Mullite/Alumina Composites
Coal fly ash with the addition of Al₂O₃ was recycled to produce mullite/alumina composites and the camphene-based freeze casting technique was processed to develop a controlled porous structure with improved mechanical strength. Many rod-shaped mullite crystals, formed by the mullitization of coal fly ash in the presence of enough silicate, melt. After sintering at 1300-1500 °C with the initial...
متن کاملEffect of V2O5 on the properties of mullite ceramics synthesized from high-aluminum fly ash and bauxite.
In this communication, high-strength mullite ceramics was prepared from bauxite and high-aluminum fly ash that is a by-product of coal combustion in thermal power plants. The effects of the doping V(2)O(5) on the bulk density, apparent porosity, bending strength and microstructure of mullite ceramics were studied in detail. It was indicated that 5-10 mol% V(2)O(5) reduced the sintering temperat...
متن کاملPreparation of Silver- and Zinc-Doped Mullite-Based Ceramics Showing Anti-Bacterial Biofilm Properties
Zincand silver-doped mullite ceramic discs were prepared and tested as potentially resistant materials against bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation. Elemental analysis and X-ray diffraction studies showed that zinc ions were incorporated in the structural framework of the mullite, while silver ions remained outside the mullite crystal lattice, which allowed their slow (0.02 ppm/24 hours) le...
